RUGBY AT PARKTOWN

RUGBY
Rugby was one of my main sports. When I started in the Under 14 team, I was one of the largest players and played lock. In the Under 15 team, I alternated between lock and flank. And thereafter played at flank in the second and then the first teams. In form 5, I was awarded colours. With great regret, I lost my colours blazer during one of my many residence moves.

We went on a couple of tours.
One was to Piggs Peak, Swaziland. The field was on the edge of a cliff. When the ball was kicked into touch, a replacement ball was needed to save time.

Another tour was to Rhodesia where we played against Prince Edward, Gwelo, Guinea Fowl and a few other schools.
The Rhodesians were generally larger than us because they spent an extra year at school.

Leaving by train for the Rhodesian tour, Sandy Levine was there to see us off. I'm in the right hand windo next to Butch Berman.
